Lithuania held a gay pride march, but it was not without problems from people opposing the parade.  This was the first gay pride march for Lithuania.  This parade almost did not happen.  It was banned by a court due to security concerns.  The ban happened even after the city council originally approved the march.  An appeals court overturned the ban allowing the parade to continue.  Unfortunately, there were several protesters in attendance at the march.  Click here for the full story regarding the protesters.

Police even had to open fire at the protesters.  There were around 300 people in attendance for the parade.  However, there where around 2000 protesters in attendance.  The police had to fire tear gas to disperse protesters in order to protect the people attending the march.  Click here to read the full story regarding the police opening fire.

I first heard about Jennifer Knapp while I was attending Liberty University. She was signed to Gotee Records, which was founded by DC Talk member Toby McKeehan.  Toby McKeehan, like me also attended Liberty University. When I heard Jennifer Knapp I immediately feel in love with her music, her voice and her message.  I thought she was very talented.  I went to see her in concert at Liberty University.  I had her CD and I even had a poster of her hanging on my dorm room wall.  I really felt something when I heard her sing.  I felt her love for God in her music, but I had no idea that we were both sharing the same struggles.

When I read that Jennifer Knapp is gay I was absolutely thrilled.  I am also a Christian who just so happens to be a lesbian.  I always admired her for her music, but now I admire her for a completely different reason.  I admire her because she had the strength to say “I am gay.”

A lot of celebrities who come out have a lot to lose.   However, I think she had more to lose than most.  I cannot even begin to imagine what it must feel like to come out to all her Christian fans.  Despite a persons faith the fact is many Christians do not understand people who are gay.  They think it is a sin or that it is immoral.  They claim to represent God, but the love of God does not come through in them.

Coming out being a Christian music star is inspiring to all of the people who are sitting in church struggling with being gay and feeling completely alone.  Her story is going to help a lot of people!  We are not alone and aside from our faith and having God’s love, we also have each other.  I know that there are a lot of people who are gay and Christian.  However, many conservative Christians do not realize that there are a lot of gay people sitting in the pews with them at the Sunday morning church services.  I think her story will help people to have more understanding and realize that yes we can be gay and still have a deep love for God.  It is OKAY to be a gay Christian.  Thank you Jennifer Knapp for your courage!  Click here to read the full story.

I am usually not one to believe speculations on celebrities and coming out.  A lot of the time people’s (no not the magazine) speculations are wrong.  However, someone is coming out on May 5th and they are using People Magazine as their platform.  I am just as curious (no pun intended) as everyone, as to who the mystery celeb will be.  I read a pretty convincing article, that makes some sense.  I saw a few sources say it will be country music singer Chely Wright.  Never heard of her, me either.  However, the reasoning for her coming out makes sense.   It would also be a big deal since she could be the first out country singer.  I also read another possibility could be Shelby Lynne who is also a country singer.  Will this prediction come true?  Will it be a bigger celeb than these two possibilities?   Click here to read full story.
